Deborah Wong is a longtime fan of Great Leap. She is an ethnomusicologist and teaches at the University of California, Riverside. She was a member of the Taiko Center of Los Angeles from 1997-2009 and has served as the faculty adviser for Senryu Taiko at UCR since 1997. She served as a presenter for Nobuko Miyamoto and FandangObon at the 2016 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Her book Speak It Louder: Asian Americans Making Music (Routledge, 2004) offers critical reflections on how and why Asian Americans forge political relationships through musical encounters. She jumped at the chance to work on the Great Leap Archive Project in 2017-2018. She wrote many entries and digitized many of the archival materials seen here.
