She served as a presenter for Nobuko Miyamoto and FandangObon at the 2016 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Her book Speak It Louder: Asian Americans Making Music (Routledge, 2004) offers critical reflections on how and why Asian Americans forge identities through musical encounters.
